BRS leaders said that minister T Harish Rao didn't violate the model code, and that his statement was just an expression of gratitude for the ECI's decision.

After the Election Commission of India (ECI) withdrew permission for disbursal of funds under the Rythu Bandhu scheme, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) today urged the apex poll body to reconsider its decision and allow the disbursal to continue.
BRS leaders including Secretary General K Keshava Rao and General Secretary Soma Bharat Kumar called on Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj at his office and submitted a memorandum seeking the reconsideration of the decision to withdraw the permission.
In the letter, the BRS leaders mentioned that Finance Minister T Harish Rao didn't violate the Model Code of Conduct, and that the inadvertent statement was nothing but an expression of gratitude for the ECI's decision.
They claimed that Harish Rao had not made any comment which was in violation of the ECI's orders, and that he had merely thanked the ECI for allowing the disbursement of the scheme amount to the farmers.
Keshava Rao said that the Rabi season had advanced in the State due to the good rainfall in recent days, and that farmers had started cultivation activities, which necessitated release of the Rythu Bandhu funds immediately. He also pointed out that Rythu Bandhu was a scheme that had been going on for the last five and half years, and also that the Centre's PM Kisan scheme was being allowed, and requested the ECI to withdraw its order disallowing Rythu Bandhu.
