The proposed indefinite hunger strike of YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy at Guntur has been postponed following the denial of permission by the police authorities.
Jagan proposed to launch an indefinite fast from tomorrow at Guntur, demanding "Special Status" to Andhra Pradesh.
With YSRCP leaders determined to go ahead with the hunger strike, police officials had taken measures to thwart any attempt by Jagan to launch the fast. The YSRCP then approached the High Court and filed a house motion seeking direction to the AP government to accord permission. The High Court Chief Justice however rejected the motion in view of the court having a holiday for Bakrid.
After rejection of the plea by the High Court, the YSRCP leaders held a meeting at Lotus Pond. They then decided to postpone the hunger strike, and a final date and place will be announced later.
