After the success of Andhra Pradesh's LED street lighting energy conservation project, the Government Of India said that it wanted to emulate the same in other States to improve energy economy of the nation.
Union Minister for Power & Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal today requested AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to send a high-level team to the 'Power Ministers' Conference' to be held in Baroda, Gujarat, on October 7 and 8, to explicate the details of the three point pronged energy conservation strategy used by AP in the effective implementation of LED technology for enhancement of quality of power with reduced energy losses.
The union minister also expressed his willingness to launch the Centralized Control & Monitoring System (CCMS) for maintenance and monitoring of all the LED street lights in AP, and also the online feeder monitoring system of AP's DISCOMs during the conference.
Accepting the union minister's request, the CM immediately directed the energy department to prepare a detailed presentation on the overall performance of AP's power sector, duly highlighting the implementation of the LED street lighting program and the energy savings that followed.
Cabinet Ministers P Narayana and Atchannaidu Kinjarapu, along with other officials in the field, will be representing Andhra Pradesh in the conference.
