Telangana has won the second prize in the State Performance category at the National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) 2025 in New Delhi today, reaffirming its leadership in energy conservation and energy efficiency initiatives.
The award, instituted by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the Ministry of Power, was presented by President of India Droupadi Murmu at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
Principal Secretary (Energy) Navin Mittal and TGREDCO Vice Chairperson and Managing Director V Anila received the award on behalf of the State.
Senior TGREDCO officials G S V Prasad and M Venkata Ramana also attended the ceremony.
The recognition comes in appreciation of Telangana's impactful initiatives, including the 'Cool Roof Demonstration Project' at the University of Hyderabad, clean cooking programs, promotion of electric two-wheelers, ECBC-compliant buildings, and strong implementation of the Perform, Achieve and Trade (PAT) and the Standards and Labelling schemes.
With 1,178 ECBC-compliant buildings, annual energy savings of 412.25 MU, and the issuance of 3.03 lakh Energy Saving Certificates (ESCerts), Telangana continues to capture attention in sustainable development.
