The Government of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday signed 5 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with different central agencies on energy including for the setting up of new power plants in the State.
The MoUs were signed in the presence of Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, at the latter's camp office at Lake View Guest House.
The duo also signed a joint statement for the implementation of the ambitious Power For All (PFA) program in the State.
Over 1,200 acres of land was handed over by APIIC to NTPC for a 4,000 MW Super Critical Ultra Mega Power Project at Pudimadaka in the Vishakhapatnam district on the occasion.
A portal for real-time monitoring of 33/11 kV feeders was also launched.
The first MoU was signed between the Government of Andhra Pradesh & the NTPC for a 1,000 MW Solar Park.
The second was between MNRE, the Government of India & the Government of Andhra Pradesh for a 2,500 MW Ultra Mega Solar Power Project.
The SECI and APGENCO / NREDCAP also entered into an MoU for the development of a 2,500 MW Ultra Mega Solar Power Project.
Similarly, Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) and the State Energy Conservation Mission (SECM) signed an MoU for energy efficiency and conservation measures in Andhra Pradesh.
The last MoU was signed between Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) and NREDCAP for logistics support in energy efficiency & conservation measures.
Speaking to media persons later, Piyush Goyal praised Naidu and said that the latter was the first Chief Minister to approach the Centre seeking approval for new power plants.
He said that the Chief Minister got sanctions within a record time of just 50 days.
He also lauded the target set by the AP government to reduce the transmission and distribution losses by 9%, and said that it would be a new record in the country if the target is achieved.
Describing Naidu as the role model for other Chief Ministers, Goyal said that everyone needed to learn a lot of things from Chandrababu Naidu. (INN)
