PM Modi Starts Off Projects Worth 11,300 Crore For State

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stones for or dedicated to the nation various projects worth over Rs 11,300 crore at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad.

The projects included laying the foundation stones for new facilities at the AIIMS in Bibinagar, five National Highway projects and the redevelopment of Secunderabad Railway Station.

Modi also dedicated other development projects related to the railways.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude for getting the opportunity to extend the pace of development of Telangana.

"It is the duty of the government at the Centre to enable the citizens of the State to realize the dreams related to the development of Telangana, and it is in the spirit of our philosophy of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas," he said.

He also claimed that special emphasis had been given to Telangana so that it could make the most out of India's development model laid out in the past nine years.

He said that in the last nine years, the railway budget of Telangana had increased 17 times, and the work of laying new rail lines, rail line doubling and electrification among others had taken place in record time.

"The electrification of the Secunderabad-Mahbubnagar project is a prime example of this," he said.

The highway network of Telangana was also being developed at a fast pace, the PM said, and mentioned the four highway projects whose foundation stones had been laid today. Mentioning the Akkalkot-Kurnool section of the highway being built at the cost of Rs 2,300 crore, the Mahabubnagar-Chincholi section at a cost of Rs 1,300 crore, the Kalwakurthy-Kollapur section at a cost of Rs 900 crore, and the Khammam-Devarapalle section at a cost of Rs 2,700 crore, the Prime Minister emphasized that the Central government was leading the development of modern highways in Telangana with full force.

Modi added that the length of National Highways in Telangana had doubled from 2,500 km from the time of the formation of the State in 2014 to more than 5,000 km today, with Rs 35,000 crore spent by the Central government on them. He further added that work on road projects worth Rs 60,000 crore was underway in Telangana, which included the game-changing Hyderabad Ring Road.

"The union government is emphasizing the development of both industry and agriculture in Telangana," Modi said.

He added that Jan Dhan bank accounts had been opened for one crore families of Telangana, two-and-a-half lakh small entrepreneurs of Telangana had got Mudra loans without guarantee, five lakh street-vendors had got bank loans for the first time, and more than 40 lakh small farmers had got about Rs 9,000 crore under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi.

"Rapid development of Telangana is very important for building a developed India in the Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal," the Prime Minister concluded.

Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and union minister G Kishan Reddy were present.
