Hyderabad will play host to a week-long ICANN (Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers) international conference at HICC during November 3-9, Telangana Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma said. As many as 4,000 delegates representing 120 nations are expected to attend the conference, and the Central electronic and IT departments, and the State government, will coordinate the program.
Sharma held a meeting with the officials of ICANN and of various departments at the Secretariat today, in which he asked the officials of the State to make elaborate arrangements for the event to ensure that it would enhance the stature of the city and the State as IT hubs.
Directing the officials to coordinate with each other in order to conduct the conference in a grand and flawless manner, Sharma asked them to set up a control room for all departments at the HICC, and a nodal officer to monitor and make the program a success.
Sharma said that plans would be made with a focus on security, law and order, accommodation, traffic, health and other aspects. Hyderabad was known as one of the best cities in terms of law and order, and communal amity, and every precaution would be taken to provide complete and fool-proof security, and protection to those attending the meeting, he said. He said that the She-Teams would also be more vigilant during the conference.
"We will showcase Telangana's IT growth, the efforts being made to increase our IT exports, and the plans to expand," he said.
