Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today said that BioAsia stood as proof of Hyderabad's success as a life sciences hub, and expressed confidence that the conference, held in Hyderabad every year, would soon be recognised as being on the lines of the World Economic Forum held in Davos.
The Chief Minister made these remarks after inaugurating BioAsia 2026 along with IT & Industries Minister Sridhar Babu at HITEX.
On the occasion, the CM spoke about Telangana's strengths that would support its rise from being a global vaccine capital to becoming a global life sciences capital - a strong vision and clear policy framework, availability of highly qualified human resources, and reputed educational institutions.
Reddy also mentioned the recent launch of the Telangana Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy in Davos, the expansion of Genome Valley, the launch of 1Bio as a world-class research and innovation centre, the acceleration of Green Pharma City, and the opening of several Global Capability Centres in Hyderabad.
Hyderabad had the potential to grow from a global vaccine capital into a global life sciences capital, he added. "In the last two years, we have received over Rs 73,000 crore in investments in life sciences. Hyderabad is the preferred destination to set up GCCs, build innovation engines, design molecules and drugs, manage clinical analytics, develop AI platforms and drive digital manufacturing," he said.
He also spoke about the presence of leading thought and business leaders in pharma, biosciences, biotech, bulk drugs, vaccines and healthcare in Hyderabad, and said that the city had emerged as a trusted, stable and future-ready ecosystem.
"From bulk drugs to biologics, from manufacturing to innovation, and from India to the world, Telangana is moving up the value chain," he added.
As per reports, BioAsia 2026 is witnessing record participation, with more than 4,000 delegates representing 500 leading companies from the life sciences ecosystem worldwide. The massive global participation prompted the CM to say that the conference could even be renamed as Bio-World.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister presented Prof Bruce Levine, a renown professor from the University of Pennsylvania, with the Genome Valley Excellence Award.
