An inquiry was ordered into the alleged manhandling of a journalist by the Hyderabad Police while arresting agitators at Gandhi Bhavan on February 3.
As per reports, DCP Central Zone was appointed as the chief inquiry officer and asked to conduct a detailed inquiry and submit the report at the earliest. Disciplinary action will be initiated against the erring police personnel based on the findings of the report.
Meanwhile, Task Force Sub-Inspector Thimmappa discharged from duties and asked to report to the head office pending receipt of inquiry report.
It may be mentioned here that a media person was allegedly manhandled by the police while he was covering the protest by contract lecturers against the Congress's anti-regulartization petition.
Several journalist unions condemned the "atrocity" of the police and demanded that the State government initiate immediate disciplinary action against the accused.
