Tension prevailed at Osmania University today when the police thwarted a protest program held by BRSV activists on the campus.
An effigy of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was burnt in front of the OU Arts College by BRSV leaders. They also raised slogans against Revanth Reddy. The leaders were then rounded up by the police and taken into custody. The protesting students were also taken into custody. The police also snatched their cell phones, leading to arguments with the students about how they could do that.
The students expressed deep concern over the police "atrocities". They asked how the police were allowed to enter the university, and reminded the State government of the conditions during the separate Telangana movement.
The BRSV leaders said that they had only expressed their anger that the Congress government had cheated the unemployed. They said that the Congress had won due to the votes of the unemployed, but that it was now the cause of their tears. They demanded that the problems of the unemployed be addressed immediately. They also claimed that the unemployed people would give a befitting reply to this government in the days to come.
The BRSV leaders also demanded that the DSC be postponed and a mega DSC set up with 25,000 posts.
Meanwhile, the police have been deployed in large numbers in the OU. CRPF personnel have also been deployed.
