A man who had created a sensation across the State by raping a minor girl last year was awarded 20 years' rigorous imprisonment today.
The accused, Rajani Kumar, committed the heinous crime on a five-year-old girl of DAV School. The incident took place on October 17 last year. The police arrested him two days later, on October 19.
Kumar was working as the driver of the Principal of DAV School. It was found that he had been raping the child for two months. The parents of the girl found out about the brutal crime after observing changes in her daily behaviour, and lodged a complaint with the police. When the incident became public, the parents of the children of the school not only attacked Kumar but also damaged the car of the Principal.
The police later arrested the Principal Madhavi, and cancelled the permission of the school. However, the permission restored later following representations from the parents of the students of the school.
