Child Rapist Sentenced To Life, Asked To Pay Rs 15 Lakh

A man was sentenced to life and asked to pay a fine of Rs 32,000 for sexually abusing and impregnating a minor girl, under the POCSO Act.

According to the Shadnagar police of Cyberabad, the crime occurred prior to May 25, 2017, in the Farooqnagar mandal of Ranga Reddy district.

The minor girl and the accused Pujari Pandu lived in the same village. Pandu used to follow the victim, befriended her and induced her with promises of marrying her.

He then raped her and impregnated her. And after she conceived, Pandu refused to marry her as she belonged to the SC community.

After the trial, the FTSC and POCSO court at Shadnagar convicted the Pandu to life imprisonment, and imposed a fine of Rs 32,000 on him.

The judge also awarded the victim a compensation Rs 10,00,000, and for her male child, an additional Rs 5,00,000.

M Stephen Raveendra, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad, appreciated the IO, PP and CDO, and announced that they would be rewarded in the monthly reward mela, said P Srinivas Rao, Additional DCP, CMC, Cyberabad.
