The doors of the controversial city-based DAV School in Banjara Hills will open once again.
The department of school education has decided to restore the recognition of the school for the ongoing academic year.
It took the decision following several pleas from the parents of the students of the school.
The department had cancelled the recognition of the school after the rape of a minor student of the school recently following an order from the State Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy.
The minister had asked the DEO of Hyderabad to accommodate the students of the school in other schools for the current academic year. She had also asked the DEO to clarify any doubts raised by the parents of the students of the school vis-a-vis the adjustments.
However, the parents of the students opposed the decision of the cancellation of the recognition of the school. They asked the government where they should send their children in the current academic year, and told the government that the future of the 700 students of the school would be in jeopardy if its recognition was not restored.
They also submitted a representation to the State government urging it to restore the recognition.
Following the protests and pleas, the department of school education decided to restore the recognition for the current academic year.
