The state government has constituted a committee to supervise the flow of traffic in the twin cities, and the upgradation of traffic signals on the city's roads.
According to a GO passed recently, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner has been named the chairman of the committee whose members include the Additional Commissioner Of Police (Traffic) and the GHMC Additional Commissioner (Electrical). The GHMC Additional Commissioner (Traffic & Transport) will be the Member-Convenor.
The committee is empowered to supervise the traffic system, upgrade the traffic signals and modernise the control rooms in the twin cities.
The GHMC has already released Rs. 10 crores to the traffic police for the modernisation of the city's traffic signals.
