Taking suo moto cognizance of criticism on one of its judgments, the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday served notice to Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLA K Tarakarama Rao. The Sircilla MLA had allegedly attributed motives to the High Court's judgment on a case between the Telangana Employees Housing Society and TNGOs leader Swamy Goud.
The court asked KTR to file his explanation of the comments before October 30. Reacting to the notice, KTR said that he would give the court a satisfactory reply. He also claimed that he had never resorted to contempt of court, and that he has always held the judiciary in high esteem.
Meanwhile, the TRS MLA also condemned Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanaraya statement that the Congress had spoken about constituting a States Reorganisation Committee to study the demand for Telangana state. He questioned why, if the Congress was in favour of a second SRC, the Centre had constituted two different committees led by Pranab Mukherjee and Justice Srikrishna.
Further, KTR said the PCC chief must explain the reasons why the then Home Minister P Chidambaram had announced the formation of a Telangana state on December 9, 2009. He alleged that the PCC chief was trying to divert attention from the recent
statement of Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who said that a Telangana solution is not possible in the near future. (INN)
