Former Minister Harish Rao today alleged that the notice issued to the BRS working president K T Rama Rao to appear for questioning again in the Formula-E car race case was nothing but a political move by the State government.
Harish Rao claimed that the notice was proof that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was arbitrarily misusing investigative agencies to divert public attention from his failures.
"Revanth Reddy has issued these notices to denigrate KTR, as KTR has been consistently questioning the government over its failure to implement the six guarantees and 420 promises made in the Congress's election manifesto. The ACB notices to KTR were clearly issued in retaliation for his vocal criticism of the Congress government and Chief Minister," Rao said.
Rao alleged that the Revanth Reddy-led government had been attempting to defame the BRS through diversionary politics all through its 18-month tenure. "No matter how many attempts are made, however, there is no chance for Revanth Reddy's political anarchy to succeed. The people of the State have already seen through his drama and diversionary tactics. The Formula-E car racing event enhanced Telangana's prestige and brought in investments. Is this notice to KTR because he elevated Telangana's global image?" he asked.
Rao recalled that in 2000, then-Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had tried to bring the Formula One race to the undivided Andhra Pradesh but was unsuccessful. "It was under the leadership of the BRS government and KTR that a prestigious international racing event like Formula-E was brought to India, specifically to Hyderabad. The event was part of the State's efforts to turn Telangana into an electric vehicle manufacturing hub, and it succeeded in attracting major investments. Companies like Amara Raja came forward to invest," he said.
He also criticised the Congress government for organising beauty pageants, claiming that the event had only tarnished the State's and country's image and had brought no tangible benefits.
