As complaints regarding the problems on the Telangana government's land registration website, the Dharani portal, continue to rise, the Telangana High Court today directed the state government to submit the details of its functioning.
It directed the government to produce the relevant details by the end of the month.
The matter was then adjourned till December 31.
The government's attempts to shift the land registrations process online have been blighted by a series of delays and legal complications. The most recent hurdle was a High Court order staying the registration of non-agricultural lands after many people raised objections to needing to provide their Aadhaar details for the process.
Although the government had appealed to the court to allow it to use Aadhaar cards for the registrations, the court said that the people were against this as they were concerned by the lack of any visible safeguards against data theft on the portal, and
had directed the government to not insist that applicants provide Aadhaar details for the registration process.
