Hyderabad and Secunderabad yet again received a high-level warning from the Indian Meteorological Department of heavy rains.
Upon reviewing the warning, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who is currently in New Delhi, asked the GHMC and Traffic Police officials to be ready with all the necessary services for the people, including relief and rescue.
KCR once again asked the officials to shift the people living in low-lying areas to safer places.
He also asked the people not to venture out if the frequency of the rains was high. He directed the GHMC to attend to all rain-related calls in the control room, and alerted the disaster management department to assume the worst-case scenario and prepare for rescue operations, and asked them to coordinate with the Hyderabad Police and the armed forces.
Additionally, he apprised the health officials on the issue and directed them to take all necessary precautions including making medicines for water-borne diseases available on demand.
Concerns over the sharp rise in water levels in the Hussain Sagar lake due to the prolonged deluge were raised. The officials are reportedly working on reducing the levels.
