Heavy rain lashed several parts of Hyderabad and Secunderabad on Wednesday bringing normal life to a grinding halt for a few hours.
Malakpet, Goshamahal, Chadarghat, Koti, Abids, Chikkadpally, RTC crossroads, Indira Park, Musheerabad, Domalguda, Amberpet, Nampally, Jeedimetla, Balanagar, Chintal, Panjagutta and Jubilee Hills received very high rainfall.
In many places, the roads turned virtually lakes with just half-an-hour of heavy rain. The drainages overflowed and the water stagnated on the roads due to garbage blocking manholes. This resulted in serious traffic snarls extending several kilometers on arterial routes including the Musarambagh-Amberpet, Malakpet-Koti, Chadarghat-Dilsukhnagar and Sankeswar Bazar - Gaddi Annaram Market roads. The traffic police were working hard to clear the traffic even as they themselves got drenched in the rain.
