Rains Cripple Normal Life In City, Things To Worsen
Water-logging, traffic snarls and overflowing drains added to the woes of the citizens. There were also power failure complaints in some parts of the city.

Normal life in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad was crippled due to rains in the past 48 hours.

Several localities in the city were inundated by flood water, and there was knee-deep water in several places. Vehicular traffic was moving at a snail's pace in Kukatpally, Miyapur, Lingapally, the BHEL stretch, Punjagutta, Banjara Hills, Nampally, Madhapur, Mehdipatnam, Secunderabad, Hi-Tech City and adjacent localities in the IT corridor.
Motorists also experienced exasperating traffic snarls in Kachiguda, Masab Tank, the Katta Maisamma temple area, Kavadiguda, the Nampally Police Control Room area, the Balkampet Yellamma temple area, Tolichowki, Suryanagar Colony, the Taj Island junction area, the Begumpet Lifestyle stretch, Greenlands and the Punjagutta crossroads.
The ECIL crossroads, Tarnaka, Mettuguda, Nagaram, A S Rao Nagar, Anandbagh, Malkajgiri and Mettuguda areas are water-logged.
Metro Rail works were suspended at all the locations as a precautionary measure.
With more rains forecast for the next few days, the citizens are bracing up for harrowing times. The met officials said that rains would continue to lash the city, north Telangana, north coastal Andhra regions over the next 48 hours.
Meanwhile, the water level in Hussain Sagar has risen due to the incessant rains in the city and its outskirts. According to the irrigation department officials, the inflow is at 1,200 cusecs of water while the outflow is 300 cusecs. The Hussain Sagar gates were lifted to release the water downstream, and the GHMC officials pressed into service rescue and rehabilitation measures.
