Aparesh Kumar Singh Takes Oath As Chief Justice
Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh was today sworn in as the new Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court.

Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh was today sworn in as the new Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court.
Governor Jishnu Dev Varma administered the oath of office to Justice Singh at the Raj Bhavan.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, some other ministers and several other dignitaries attended the swearing-in ceremony and congratulated Justice Singh on his appointment.
President Droupadi Murmu had recently issued orders transferring five Chief Justices and appointing new ones to various High Courts across the country. Along with that of Telangana, the Chief Justices of the Tripura, Madras and Rajasthan High Courts were transferred, and new Chief Justices were appointed to the High Courts of Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Guwahati and Patna.
Justice Singh, a third-generation member of a family of lawyers, was born on July 7, 1965, to Dr Ram Gopal Singh and Dr Shraddha Singh. His maternal grandfather, Justice B P Sinha, served as the sixth Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, while his paternal grandfather, Justice Shambhu Prasad Singh, served as the Acting Chief Justice of the Patna High Court. His close relatives Justice Bisweswar Prasad and Justice Shiv Kirti Singh also served as Supreme Court judges.
Justice Singh holds a B A (Hons) and a law degree from Delhi University. He was enrolled as an advocate in the erstwhile unified Patna High Court in 1990. He practiced in the Patna High Court from 1990 to 2000 and in the Jharkhand High Court from 2001 to 2012.
He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Jharkhand High Court in 2012, and became a permanent judge in 2014. He served as the Acting Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court in 2022, and was elevated to the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court in 2023. He has now been transferred to serve as the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court.
