The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) chalked out a plan to construct and develop the Punjagutta graveyard, and equip it with modern facilities, including electric crematoriums, said city Mayor B Rammohan.
After inaugurating works for a modern graveyard with a modern amenities, the Mayor said that it would be modernized at a cost of Rs. 3 crores. Eight graveyards in the city would be developed with modern facilities, he said, adding that eight electric crematorium facilities would be developed in the Punjagutta graveyard besides providing rooms for bathing and toileteries.
Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin, corporator M Kavitha, chief engineer Subash Singh, Additional Commissioner Ravikiran, Deputy Commissioner Satyanarayana and others were also present on the occasion.
