The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) organized a drive as part of the awareness program on separation of wet and dry garbage (Swachch Survekshan).
GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan and Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy, Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin, and several corporators participated in the program.
The Mayor paid a surprise visit to Secunderabad Railway Station and checked sanitary activities in the area. He also conducted a review meeting with Railway Station officials on sanitary activities.
Janardhan Reddy visited several colonies in Quthbullapur circle including Ferozguda, Quthbullapur Meenakshi Colony, and Srini Enclave, and held discussions with representatives of the local residents welfare association.
Later, Reddy inspected the Rs. 5 meal center at Suraram and had lunch there. Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner directed the officials to gift uniforms to the garbage truck and auto drivers who separated wet and dry waste.
The programs to be taken up in the month are: February 1 (Divorce to dry-wet), February 2 (source collectors day), February 3 (housewives/maid servants day), February 4 (RWAs/ colonies), February 5 (slum communities), February 6 (students), February 7 (morning walkers), February 8 (business establishments), February 9 (parks), February 10 (markets), February 11 (theatres), February 12 (hotels), February 13 (petrol bunks), February 14 (bus stands), February 15 (Railway stations), February 16 (street vendors), February 17 (children), February 18 (transfer stations), February 19 (sports grounds), February 20 (lakes/tanks/nalas), February 21 (senior citizens), February 22 (malls), February 23 (hospitals), February 24 (public toilets), February 25 (religious places), February 26 (Swachch offices day), February 27 (celebrities day), and February 28 (public representatives day).
