Addressing a huge public meeting, Praja Garjana Sabha, organized in Palamuru district today by the Telangana BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi waxed eloquent on how much the union government led by him had helped Telangana.
The PM claimed that the Centre had given Rs 1 lakh crore to Telangana in the last nine years. "Prior to 2014, there were only 2,500 km of national highways in Telangana. After our government came to power, we have built another 2,500 km of national highways in the State in the last nine years. We have also laid roads to link every village to its nearby town. We are also providing free gas and houses to the poor," he claimed.
The PM also slammed the BRS and its leaders. "The BRS government is looting money in the name of farmers' schemes. The Telangana government claims to be going to great heights to create irrigation canals, but there is no water in those canals at all. The Telangana government has also cheated the farmers in the name of loan waivers," he said.
The PM also took a dig at the MIM. "Everyone knows who is running the Telangana government. Both the family parties are obstructing the development of Telangana. Corruption and commission are the ideology of these two parties. All the posts from the party president are held by family members of the leaders," he said.
Modi also claimed that the popularity of the BJP was shooting up day after day in Telangana, and that the people of Telangana had confidence that Modi's promises would be fulfilled.
"Today, we have started works worth Rs 13,500 crore in Telangana. We are also setting up a turmeric board in the State. A lot of good can be done with the turmeric board - the export of turmeric has doubled compared to earlier. The Ramagundam fertilizer factory has also been opened for farmers. Even though we do not rule Telangana, we are trying to support the farmers here. Telangana needs work at the ground level, and not lies and promises. And Telangana should have a corruption-free administration. The BJP thinks for the common man, and is committed to improving the lives of the people of the State. Telangana needs a BJP government. Together, let's take Telangana to greater heights," he said.
