Government chief whip Gandra Venkataramana Reddy, on Sunday, claimed that the Kiran Kumar Reddy Government had adequate numbers to prove its majority on the floor of the House.
Talking to reporters at the Congress Legislature Party office, Venakataramana Reddy said that there was no threat to the government, although he did not rule out the possibility of opposition parties passing a no-trust motion during the second leg of the Legislative Assembly's budget session (which starts from Monday).
He said that since the no-confidence motion moved by the TRS and YSRCP (jointly) was defeated during the first phase of the budget session, there are lesser chances of another motion being passed.
Gandra also welcomed speaker Nadendla Manohar's
decision to disqualify the nine rebel Congress MLAs. He said that it was unethical on the part of the MLAs to have voted against the party during the No Confidence Motion.
The government chief whip also sought the cooperation of all opposition parties for smooth functioning of the House.
Congress Whip in the Legislative Council - Rudraraju Padamaraju - was also present in the press conference. (INN)
