Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths, on Monday, took into custody the retired district judge P V Chalapathi Rao and T Ravi Chandra (son of suspended judge T Pattabhirama Rao), both of whom were arrested in connection with the cash-for-bail scandal, from Cherlapalli Jail.
The ACB court granted the ACB 5-day custody of Chalapathi Rao and Ravi Chandra, following a petition filed by the ACB to question them in connection with the cash-for-bail scandal. The officials shifted both the accused to the ACB office, for interrogation.
The court directed the ACB to question them from 10am to 5pm in the presence of their lawyers, and to not to use any third degree methods.
Chalapathi Rao and T Ravi Chandra were arrested on 16 June for being part of a conspiracy, along with Pattabhirama Rao and others, to grant bail to former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy in the Obulapuram Mining Company case. (INN)
