The special court for ACB and SPE cases, on Thursday, dismissed the bail petition filed by suspended judge T Pattabhirama Rao, the accused in the cash-for-bail scam case of mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy.
The court rejected Pattabhirama Rao's petition after hearing arguments from both sides. The special court concurred with the ACB's view that Pattabhirama Rao might influence witnesses and destroy the evidence if he is granted bail in this phase of investigations.
In the bail petition, Pattabhi's counsel stated that his client was suffering from health problems - that he has had neck and back pains since 2005, and had also suffered a heart attack. The counsel said that Pattabhirama Rao needs immediate medical attention.
However, the special court rejected his bail petition after concurring with the views of the ACB's counsel. (INN)
