The Anti Corruption Bureau Court, on Friday, granted the ACB 2-day custody of suspended Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) judge Pattabhi Ramarao, who was accused in the cash-for-bail case involving former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhana Reddy.
While granting the custody for 2 days from Friday, the court directed the ACB to question him before his lawyers from 10am to 5pm, and instructed it to not use 3rd degree methods.
The court also directed the ACB to shift him to Cherlapally jail after the probe and medical tests are done with.
The court directed ACB to produce him in the court after the expiry of his custody.
Earlier, the ACB had sought a 5-day custody of Pattabhi Ramarao.
It may be mentioned here that Pattabhi Ramarao had allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs. 6 crore to grant bail to mining baron Gali Janardhana Reddy in the illegal mining case of Obulalpuram Mining Corporation.
The ACB has already arrested retired judge P V Chalapathi Rao and Pattabhirama Rao's son T Ravi Chandra in the case, and seized Rs. 1.6 crore in cash from their possession. (INN)
