Joining protests launched by home guards, as 2017 elections close in, Telangana TDP Working President A Revanth Reddy today urged Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to concede to the demands of the Home Guards.
In an open letter to the Chief Minister, the TDP leader said that there were 19,600 home guards working in the State, all of who were discharging their duties on par with police constables for a meagre wage of Rs. 12,000 per month.
The home guards were demanding that the Chief Minister fulfill the promises that he made to them before elections, he said, and recalled that the home guards carried out relief and rescue ops, along with the police and the army, in the State during the heavy rains that lashed it last month.
Reddy urged the KCR to regularize their services besides providing other facilities and allowances. The TDP leader also demanded that the TRS government provide health cards, increased pay, an additional 30% salary for those who performing traffic duties, weekly holidays and promotions on par with the Telangana Police.
