Hyderabad Tata-Boeing Aerospace Unit Foundation Laid
Union minister Manohar Parrikar and Telangana minister K T Rama Rao laid the foundation for the Tata-Boeing unit at Adibhatla on the Hyderabad's outskirts.

Adding another feather to Hyderabad's cap, Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, along with Telangana IT Minister K T Rama Rao, today laid the foundation stone for the prestigious Tata-Boeing aerospace spare parts manufacturing unit at Adibhatla on the city's outskirts.
Industrial behemoth the Tata group took the decision to come up with the manufacturing unit in Hyderabad after the new industrial policy by the Telangana government was pitched to it.
Speaking on the occasion, Parrikar lauded the Telangana industrial policy offering hassle-free accordance of permissions in two weeks to businesses and industries. "I have seen many industrial policies, and the one brought in by the Telangana government is better than most others," he said. "The policy will help attract investments, and has gotten a good response all over the nation."
Parrikar also said that the new spare parts unit in Hyderabad would provide employment opportunities, and that the aerospace sector would see a surge with this unit becoming operational in some three months. The Tatas were spending Rs 200 crores for the unit, he said.
IT Minister K T Rama Rao expressed pleasure at the unit coming up in Telangana. He exuded confidence that the new unit spread over 13 acres would boost industry in the state of Telangana.
Dave Koopersmith, Boeing's Vice President, said that Indian industry was providing critical support to Boeing's commercial and defence programs. He said that the company had also recently partnered with universities and scientific institutions across India, which would not only enhance India's aerospace and defence development capabilities but create engineering talent.
Pratyush Kumar, President, Boeing India, said that Boeing had doubled its procurement from India since last year to almost Rs. 10 crore per day, and planned to continue doing this. S Ramadorai, Chairman of TASL, said that the ground-breaking ceremony was a significant milestone in furthering his company's commitment to the Indian aerospace sector.
