Formula E Enhanced City Brand Image: Danam Nagender
The Khairatabad MLA said that Hyderabad's reputation due to the car race had improved, but did not deny the possibility of corruption linked to the event.
Amid controversies surrounding the Formula E race last year, Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender today said that the event had contributed positively to enhancing Hyderabad's brand image.
Nagender, who was originally elected as a BRS MLA but later joined the Congress, also did not deny the possibility of corruption linked to the event.
He said, "K T Rama Rao, who had served as the municipal administration minister during the previous BRS administration, sought my counsel during the organisation of the race in Hyderabad. I merely shared my perspective on the event, and said that hosting the race had placed Hyderabad on the global map. As the matter is currently under judicial consideration, I will refrain from making any negative comments about KTR."
Nagender also addressed various other issues concerning Telangana. He said that the State's budget was unbalanced but commended Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's administration for its commitment to fulfilling the promises made by the Congress to the people despite the poor financial condition of the State.
He also said that it was important that the party cadre effectively communicated government initiatives to the public, and warned that failing to do so could create a significant gap between reality and perception.
Nagender reiterated his earlier criticisms of the Hyderabad Road Development Authority, and said that its operations had negatively impacted the community. He called on the State government to reassess the authority's functioning.
