Top BRS leaders today launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing him of misusing State machinery to harass the party's working president K T Rama Rao with "fabricated and politically motivated cases".
Former minister Harish Rao criticised the Chief Minister for "setting up illegal cases" against KTR, and said that the BRS leader had only worked to strengthen Hyderabad's global brand image.
He alleged that the Congress government was resorting to "petty political dramas" to gain an advantage in the upcoming local body elections.
"The CM is trying to suppress voices that question him. The Formula-E car race was conducted transparently, but they have been twisting it for two years. Illegal cases cannot harm KTR or the BRS," he said.
BRS senior leader Vemula Prashanth Reddy alleged a "Congress-BJP conspiracy" to weaken the party. He criticised the government for reopening the Formula-E case ahead of the elections, calling it a "diversionary tactic" meant to hide governance failures. "For two years they dug a hole and couldn't catch a mouse. Now, with the local body elections coming up, they want to embarrass KTR again," he said.
Former MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhasker accused the CM of "deliberately harassing" KTR, calling the Congress government "vengeful" and "narrow-minded" for repeatedly invoking the Formula-E case.
In a strongly worded statement, BRS MLC Dr Sravan Dasoju condemned the case as a "vindictive political hit-job", alleging it was engineered to malign KTR and distract people from the government's failures. "This case is not law or justice. It is Revanth Reddy's revenge script," he said, and claimed that the government was misusing institutions to target a leader who helped build Brand Hyderabad and position Telangana globally.
Calling the Formula-E event a "global pride project", Sravan said that it was meant to bring investments, youth employment and EV innovation, but had instead been turned into a bogus scandal. He charged the government with filing false cases to divert attention from "administrative collapse, reckless borrowing, rising debt and broken promises".
He said that KTR's integrity and contributions to Hyderabad were the real reasons he was being targeted. "The courts will expose this fraudulent case. Telangana will not fall for political theatre," he said, and urged the public to reject "vindictive politics" and defend democratic values.
