As part of its ongoing investigation into the Formula E Car Race case, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today issued a fresh notice to IAS officer Arvind Kumar, the Special Chief Secretary of the Municipal Administration department in the BRS regime, summoning him for interrogation on July 1.
Kumar is on leave until June 30 and is in Europe attending his daughter's convocation ceremony. He is expected to return to Hyderabad on June 30.
The ACB had earlier questioned former minister K T Rama Rao twice in connection with the case. The notice to Kumar was reportedly issued based on information obtained during KTR's second round of questioning.
For the unversed, the Formula E Race case involves alleged financial irregularities and misuse of public funds in organising the Hyderabad E-Prix held in February 2023. The event, part of the global electric car racing series, was touted as a prestigious initiative to promote green mobility. However, the ACB began probing the case after complaints surfaced about inflated contracts, procedural lapses and unauthorised approvals involving top officials. The investigation focuses on potential violations of rules in fund allocation and event execution under the previous BRS government.
