Alleged YSR Congress Party workers today attacked a convoy carrying MLA Akhilpriya representing TDP from the Allagadda constituency in the Kurnool district.
The incident occurred when the MLA was proceeding towards the Secretariat at Velagapudi. However, her bodyguards safely shifted her to another car, and Akhil Priya reportedly reached the Secretariat without injuries.
Later she lodged a case with the Guntur-Rural SP about the attack, and the attack supposedly has been captured on tape by a CCTV camera.
As per the police, the YSRCP activists identified the car carrying Akhil Priya and stopped it. They allegedly tried breaking the window panes of the vehicle and raised anti-TDP slogans in support of Jagan.
However, speaking to the media, YSRCP leaders denied the occurence of such an incident. A furious Akhilpriya said that the denial showed Jagan's scant respect for women. She claimed that he was encouraging such acts by remaining silent.
"I would have made a mess of this incident by giving it a political colour, but I chose not to because this has more to do with the respect he has for women," she fumed, and demanded a reply from the YSRCP leaders captured in the CCTV video.
Reacting to the incident, several politicians including Tadikonda TDP MLA Tenali Shravan Kumar condemned the incident and opined that even legislators who were female weren't safe from getting assaulted by men. He demanded that the guilty be punished.
