A criminal case was filed today against Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajender by the Pocharam police, following a complaint lodged by a man named Upender.
According to the complaint, Upender alleges that he was slapped by Rajendar while on security duty.
The case was registered under various sections against Rajendar and five others.
The incident took place after "victims" of land encroachment in Ekashila Nagar, located within the Pocharam municipal limits, approached the MP to report that some real estate brokers were attempting to encroach upon their plots.
The people also alleged that the encroachers were terrorizing them.
In response, Rajendar visited the site along with BJP workers to inspect the affected plots. During the inspection, they encountered six individuals believed to be involved in the alleged encroachment, and reportedly drinking alcohol at the location. Tensions escalated when Rajendar allegedly attacked one of the individuals, while BJP workers reportedly beat up the others. Four of the alleged encroachers fled the scene.
The situation grew more chaotic when the party workers allegedly located and assaulted two individuals, Upender and Rafiq, who were reportedly security guards at the site. Police swiftly arrived at the scene to restore order and prevent further violence.
This development has raised concerns within the political and public spheres, with both supporters and critics of Rajendar weighing in on the issue. Calls for a fair investigation and appropriate legal action are growing as the case unfolds.
