Fast Track Court For Minor Girl Murder Case: Sridhar Babu

Minister D Sridhar Babu today announced that the State government would set up a fast track court to deliver speedy justice in the case of the rape and murder of a six-year-old minor girl.

Sridhar Babu along with Panchayat Raj Minister Seethakka, Peddapalli MLA Vijaya Ramana Rao, MP Gaddam Vamsikrishna, Ramagundam Police Commissioner Srinivasan and other officials visited the spot where the girl was raped and murdered on June 13 by a rice mill worker near Katnapalli of Sultanabad mandal in Peddapalli district.

The Ramagundam Police Commissioner explained about the incident to the ministers and other elected representatives.

Speaking with the media later, the ministers said that the State government strongly condemned the heinous crime, and that they had inspected the incident spot on the instructions of the Chief Minister himself.

Sridhar Babu said that orders had already been issued to the authorities concerned to ensure strict punishment for the accused.

He further stated that a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) case had already been registered against the accused, and that a fast track court would be set up in the district and stringent action would be taken against him.

Minister Seethakka promised that a compensation of Rs 2.5 lakh would be provided to the victim's family, and that a job would be offered to the father of the minor girl after they spoke with the Collector.

The minister said that the heinous incident happened due to the accused taking drugs like ganja, and that the State government was taking steps to eliminate the supply of ganja and drugs, and to prevent such incidents from happening in future.

According to the police, a native of Bihar, Vinod Majji, who was working as a hamali at a rice mill, allegedly took the girl behind the rice mill, and raped and killed her.
