The BJP's organisational election process has picked up pace, with the party leadership intensifying efforts to have new presidents elected for the Telugu States of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
As per reports, the election processes in both States are progressing simultaneously, and the stage is set for announcing the new leaders on July 1. The party leadership has released the election schedule accordingly.
In a statement, the BJP announced that a notification for the Telangana BJP president election would be issued on Sunday (June 29), nominations would be accepted from aspiring candidates on June 30, and the election would be conducted on July 1.
The process has also commenced in Andhra Pradesh. A notification has been issued for the election of the BJP State president, with the party leadership directing that the entire process be completed within three days.
The party's State election officer and Rajya Sabha member Paka Satyanarayana, at a press conference in Vijayawada, said that nominations would be accepted on June 30, and that the deadline for withdrawal of the same would be the same evening. The election of the new State party president would be completed by July 1, he said.
