Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with religious fervour across Telangana on Saturday.
Muslims in large numbers offered Eid prayers at idgahs and mosques, and greeted each other.
Major congregations were seen at the historic Mir Alam idgah, the Madannapet idgah, the Secunderabad Balamrai idgah, Golconda, Pahadishareef, Masab Tank and Shaheen Nager Markez.
Elaborate security arrangements including traffic restrictions were made by the Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda police near mosques and idgahs.
Moulana Jaffer Pasha Aqil Sani, while addressing the gathering at the Mir Alam idgah, urged the Muslim community to continue the Ramzan spirit of good deeds and charity in other months too. He asked them to stay away from all social evils and impurities.
MIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, Wakf Board Chairman and MLC Mohammed Saleem, Charminar MLA Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri and other eminent persons offered eid prayers at the idgah.
Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali conveyed his greetings on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, and said that Telangana was celebrating the festival every year in its real spirit. He said that it was in the same spirit that CM K Chandrashekar Rao had started a unique scheme to provide food and clothes to poor Muslims on the eve of the festival.
"We teach in our religion to care for the poor and orphans during festivals, and our Chief Minister, respecting the Islamic tradition and culture of Telangana, has arranged iftar in 800 mosques to feed poor Muslims," he said.
In Banswada, Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy offered prayers along with Muslim leaders. In a Nalgonda idgah, Deputy Speaker Neti Vidhya Sagar, MP Gutha Sukhendar Reddy and district officers joined Muslims in offering prayers.
