Bakrid (Eid-Ul-Adha) was celebrated with much fervour across Telangana today.
Muslims offered prayers at designated Eidgahs and mosques to celebrate the festival.
They also slaughtered animals as part of the ritual of the festival.
At the historic Mecca Masjid, special arrangements were made by the State government for devotees to offer Eid namaz.
Prayers were also held at the famous eidgahs of Hyderabad like the Mir Alam eidgah, the Masab Tank hockey grounds and the Langer Houz eidgah.
The police imposed restrictions in several parts of Hyderabad from 9 am to 11:30 am for the peaceful conduct of the Eid prayers.
Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy participated in Bakrid celebrations in Nalgonda. The Muslims of the town organized special prayers at the local Eidgah. After that, they warmly embraced each other and wished each other well.
Speaking on the occasion, Reddy said that Bakrid was a symbol of sacrifices. He said that Hindus and Muslims had been living together as brothers and sisters in Nalgonda town. He added that houses would be built for poor Muslims, and that the Eidgah would be developed further given the increasing population.
He also said that reservations would be provided to Muslims in education, and that opportunities would be provided to the educated Muslim youth in outsourcing jobs.
He also said that he prayed Allah that everything should be fine in Telangana.
