As many as 33 people were arrested for driving in an inebriated condition.
The Third Metropolitan Magistrate B Chengalaraya Nayudu sentenced 2 people to judidical custody for 7 days, 4 people were sentenced to custody for 5 days, and 27 other people were sentenced to a 3-day custody period each.
This routine government action was carried out last weekend, on June 21 and 22.
A total of 356 cases were booked against drunk drivers.
The vehicles of all the respondents were detained. These included 264 two-wheelers, 113 three-wheelers, 76 four-wheelers and three others (the number of wheels are yet to be specified in these cases).
The drivers were also made to attend the compulsory counseling sessions at TTI, Begumpet and Goshamahal on Monday.
Apart from all this, a fine of Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 2,100 was imposed.
From January 1, 2013 to June 22, 2013, a total of 6,375 cases have been registered and a total of 528 imprisonments have been recorded till date.
