Don't Have Any Opposition To Development Of Amaravathi: Jagan

The AP CM said that there was no hatred in his heart for Amaravathi, and that his camp office was located there, and that he also owned a house in the place.
Hyderabad | 22nd November 2021
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy today claimed that he did not have any objection to the continuation of Amaravathi as the state capital, and that his government had taken the decision to decentralize the state administration only to develop all the regions of the state.

He said that there was no hatred in his heart for Amaravathi, and pointed out that his camp office was located there, and that he also owned a house in the place.

He made these remarks while addressing the Assembly after the introduction of the bills to restore the CRDA act and to withdraw the three 3-capitals bills.

Jagan reminded the house that Kurnool used to be the capital of Andhra state post-independence, and that the High Court of the state used to be in Guntur district.

He said that they were supposed to do justice to all regions as per the Sribagh agreement, but that the capital and the High Court were both shifted to Hyderabad in the year 1956.

Jagan said that Rs. 2 crore per acre would be needed for providing basic amenities to a greenfield city like Amaravathi, and so for 50,000 acres, nearly Rs. 1 lakh crore needed to be spent, which was a lot of money that could be used for development of the rest of the state.
