Amaravathi and Polavaram were the centres of wealth creation for the State, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said, and expressed his anguish that both were destroyed due to the "stupidity" of the previous rulers.
He was angry that Amaravathi, the people's capital, was ridiculed, and hurdles created for its development.
Naidu on Thursday visited Amaravathi for the second time as Chief Minister. He inspected the abandoned structures and the debris that were left behind created by the YSRCP government. He started by visiting the ruins of the Praja Vedika in Undavalli, which were demolished soon after Jagan came to power. He then visited the houses constructed for MLAs and MLCs.
Naidu later inspected the building complexes built for the All India Services judges. He then reviewed the residences built for the ministers, and the apartments constructed for gazetted and non-gazetted officers, and class IV employees.
He went inside each structure and spoke to the officials about the areas of the respective flats, the amenities and the designs in the plan.
He later addressed a press conference at the CRDA building on Seed Axis Road. He annnounced there that the Centre had come forward to declare Polavaram as a national project, and provide financial assistance to Amaravathi.
"Polavaram and Amaravathi are not personal issues - they concern all the citizens. Through them wealth is created and the government gets revenue. Welfare programs will increase, and the people will get empowered. If Polavaram is completed and the interlinking of rivers is completed, Rayalaseema will become a rich area. The previous government had merged Polavaram with the Godavari. The cost has also doubled due to the stupidity of the person behind it, the curse of Polavaram. And that is why the people voted unilaterally for the people's alliance. Indeed, never in the history of the State has such a big electoral success been seen. People have ruled that Y S Jagan is not fit for the Chief Minister's post, and restricted his party to just 11 Assembly seats. In the last five years, we have seen how much the State will suffer if a person who is unfit for politics and a person who is not qualified becomes the CM," Naidu said.
