The newly-opened Guru Nanak Medical Centre in Secunderabad, inaugurated today, is claiming to offer diagnostic services at one fourth the cost.
It also claims to offer the cheapest dental services in twin cities.
The 15-year-old Guru Nanak Medical Centre, a unit of Guru Nanak Charitable Trust, has been renovated with support from the Rotary Club of Hyderabad Deccan at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore.
Now the centre claims to have the latest in diagnostic equipment and services. It has a diagnostic lab; X-ray and 3D ultrasound machines set up at costs of Rs 40 lakh and Rs 10 lakh respectively; physiotherapy, ophthalmology and other consultation services; and dental and day care facilities. The centre is also fully air-conditioned.
The centre also has a dialysis centre, which was established six years back and has been recently upgraded and expanded from 12 to 15 beds. This again was upgraded in association with the Rotary Club of Hyderabad Deccan and the Bhagwan Mahavir Dialysis Centre. The dialysis centre provides dialysis services at a nominal cost of Rs 300 as against Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,000 being charged elsewhere. It does 45 dialysis sessions every day in three shifts, and has so far conducted 60,000 dialysis sessions. The dialysis centre is running to its full capacity.
The centre will cater to all communities, and aims to serve the under-privileged. Nearly 300 patients are expected to benefit every day from the centre.
