Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has directed the officials to conduct a Kanti Velugu drive once again from January 18, 2023, across the State.
The CM held a review meeting at Pragathi Bhavan on Thursday with the health department and discussed the steps to be taken for the execution of the drive.
Health Minister T Harish Rao, Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao and senior officials were present.
KCR had launched the Kanti Velugu scheme on August 15, 2018, in Malkapur of Medak district. The universal eye-care scheme was designed to help everyone in the State, irrespective of their economic status, get their eyes checked for free. They would also get eye-glasses, as well as follow-up surgeries and medicines, for free. The scheme was run for six months, and Rs 102 crore were spent on it.
The Chief Minister later also inspected the under-construction new Secretariat and directed the officials concerned to speed up the works.
He also reviewed the designs and made a few suggestions.
