The accused in the sensational Delhi liquor scam Abhishek Boinpally was arrested in Hyderabad and sent to a three-day custody of the CBI.
Boinpally was produced by the CBI officials before a court after his arrest. The officials told the court that they had found in Boinpally's bank account that he had received Rs 3.85 crore, and that he was not able to show any documents for the transaction.
They added that Boinpally had invested the money received, from three different accounts, in various companies, and held shares in the companies.
The officials also told the court that Boinpally had taken part in the meetings related to the liquor scam, and that they needed custody of him to gather more details from him.
The CBI officials urged the court to grant five-day custody of Boinpally. The judge of the court M K Nagpal however granted only three days of custody after hearing the arguments.
Boinpally is acting as a director of Robin Distilleries along with one Arun Ramachandra Pillai. The duo had established the distillery on June 12, 2022.
The CBI had earlier arrested one Vijay Nayar in the scam.
