The Rouse Avenue court in New Delhi on Monday rejected the bail petitions of BRS MLC Kavitha in the liquor policy case.
Kavitha had filed two bail petitions, one each in connection with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) case and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) case, related to the liquor policy case.
Special Judge Kaveri Baweja, who heard the petitions, rejected both of them.
The BRS leader was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 15, 2024, and by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on April 11, 2024.
Kavitha has been named as the kingpin in the liquor policy case. The investigating agencies brought to the attention of the court that if Kavitha were to go out on bail, there would be a possibility of her tampering with the evidence and influencing witnesses, as she was a politically influential person.
Agreeing with the arguments of the ED and the CBI, the Rouse Avenue court rejected both the bail petitions.
Kavitha, who is in the Tihar jail under judicial custody, is likely to approach the High Court in two to three days against the trial court verdict.
