Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay today demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao resign from his post for "cheating" the dalits of Telangana.
Sanjay said that KCR was responsible for the suspension of Dalit Bandhu scheme in Huzurabad.
He alleged that KCR had given an opportunity to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to halt the scheme.
He said that the EC would never halt the implementation of any existing welfare scheme, and it was KCR's timing of the scheme that was responsible for the EC decision.
Separately, BJP MLA Raghunandan Rao alleged that KCR did not have the commitment to implement the Dalit Bandhu scheme, and that the scheme would soon meet the same fate as KCR's 3-acres-free-land promise to the dalits.
He said that he was ready to hold a public debate with minister K T Rama Rao on the implementation of the scheme.
Referring to a letter written by the secretary of the Forum for Good Governance M Padmanabh Reddy to stop the implementation of the Dalit Bandhu scheme, he said that Reddy had written the letter to the EC in August, and demanded that KTR reveal the reasons behind the freezing of the funds instead of their being credited to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
He also claimed that KTR was not campaigning for the party candidate in Huzurabad as he was confident of losing the election.
