Cong, TDP Destroyed City Water Supply System: KCR

The CM also targeted Chandrababu Naidu and accused him of hatching a conspiracy to create problems for the Telangana government.
Hyderabad | 2nd November 2014
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday challenged the Congress and TDP leaders to an open debate on the development of Hyderabad.

He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for the Rs 334-crore comprehensive water supply project in Malkajgiri circle under the World Bank-funded Municipal Development Project.

The Chief Minister alleged that the previous TDP and Congress regimes had not only ignored the development of Hyderabad, but had destroyed its drinking water supply system.

He said that several major roads turned into pools every time it drizzled in the city.

He also said that the previous governments did not take any action to prevent encroachments on storm water drains, which consequently deteriorated the conditions.

KCR ridiculed the claims of the TDP and Congress leaders of developing Hyderabad. He said that no focused approach was adopted to develop the city. However, he assured that his government would develop Hyderabad as an international city. All households in the city would get water supply in the next four years, he assured, while announcing that he would not go to people to seek votes if he failed to fulfill the promise.

The Chief Minister also targeted his Andhra Pradesh counterpart Chandrababu Naidu and accused him of hatching a conspiracy to create problems for the Telangana Government.

He alleged that Naidu was even misleading the people of Andhra Pradesh.

He announced that he would convene a public meeting at Vijayawada to expose how Naidu was cheating the people of his State.

KCR claimed that he had already warned people that there would be a power shortage in Telangana for the first three years. He said that while he was trying to arrange 1,000 MW from Chattisgarh as a short-term measure, he would also ensure that Telangana become a power-surplus State in the next three years

He asked Telangana TDP leaders to pressurise Naidu to provide Telangana its share of power from the Krishnapatnam project.

He also reiterated that the government would not stop power generation at Srisailam.

The Chief Minister also praised Malkajgiri MLA Chitala Kanaka Reddy for following up on the drinking water supply project, which would be completed in three phases. (INN)
