The Congress has released a chargesheet against BJP Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind, alleging that the latter had failed to discharge his duties during his tenure.
The chargesheet was released with the name Gulf Karmika Drohi, Gappala Arvind (Traitor of Gulf workers, Fake Arvind).
Rajya Sabha Member Renuka Chowdhury along with TPCC NRI cell leaders Manda Bhim Reddy and Nangi Devender Reddy, and Congress leader from Kerala Munir, unveiled the chargesheet against the BJP MP at Gandhi Bhavan today.
The TPCC NRI cell alleged that Arvind got elected to the Lok Sabha by cheating the Gulf workers with false promises in 2019, and asked four questions of him.
"We are posing four questions to Dharmapuri Arvind in the chargesheet. If he doesn't respond to the questions, the BJP MP has no moral right to ask for the votes again in the Lok Sabha elections," the Congress leaders said.
The Congress alleged that when the union government issued circulars reducing the minimum wages of the Gulf workers by 30% to 50%, Arvind did not question the Prime Minister.
"The BJP MP has also not taken any measures to include the natural deaths of Gulf workers under the Pravasi Bharatiya Bima Yojana scheme. Similarly, Arvind failed to write a letter to the central government for the establishment of consulates of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait in Hyderabad. Moreover, during the difficult times of the coronavirus pandemic, the union government charged double or triple the normal airfares from the poor workers who came to India from the Gulf countries, but the BJP MP didn't raise his voice," the Congress leaders alleged.
They said that Arvind was unfit for the post of MP, and urged the people to teach him a fitting lesson to him in the Lok Sabha elections.
