Telangana BJP President N Ramchander Rao was arrested today while staging an "Assembly Siege" protest against the "failures and unfulfilled promises" of the Congress government.
BJP leaders accused the Congress government of coming to power on ambitious promises related to welfare and governance, and said that its "Praja Palana" (people's governance) had turned into "Praja Mosam" (betrayal of the people).
They alleged that the past two years had been marked by disappointment, with commitments to farmers, women, youth, employees and pensioners largely unmet.
The arrest of Rao was criticised by the BJP as an example of the government's "anti-democratic" approach, claiming that instead of addressing public concerns, authorities were suppressing dissent. The party leaders also said that the protest reflected growing public anger in Hyderabad.
The protest, described as an "Assembly Siege", was organised by the Telangana BJP to highlight "increasing public dissatisfaction" with the State government.
